You're right to be psyched for the impending aunthood - being an aunt is excellent. Some thoughts on the gift-giving aspect...getting birthday gifts to the nephew by the birthday itself turns out to be a big plus. I am revered in my sister's household for my knack of getting the presents to arrive on the actual day of the birthday. When trying to impress the parents go for quality over quantity, but if you're actually trying to win over the kid himself - kids (over 18 months of age) prefer lots of cheap crap to 1 small really expensive gift. Henry is still ecstatic over the $10 crate of plastic animals he received from his cheap parents on his birthday. Bring on the new nephew!
