Squeezing a little more auntie-nephew time out of the summer, we checked out the zoo. Monkeys were Oliver’s favorite, but the tapirs were a close second.

After leaving him to enjoy a pool party, Mom (Grandma Linda), Katie, Crosby and I enjoyed some sunset time on the deck in Gig Harbor.

Cute as ever, Oliver toddles a lot more and talks a lot more and is even more cute than the last time I saw him. He gives kisses, points out busses and feeds his own little self.

Happy Boxing Day to everyone.

Thankfully, I made it out west with only a couple hours delay. I am grateful to everyone who crossed fingers and sent good luck vibes my way.

Oliver was a happy Christmas nephew and, even though Crosby the cat was crazy and a nasty stomach bug had felled a few people, I thought it was a good holiday.

How could it not be with this little guy?

Remember this?

I didn’t really either, until I was clearing out some comics from the book shelf. Looks like I never finished reading it. I’d hate to think there are any gems of wisdom left unread, so I guess I’ll pick up where I left off. Hopefully the guy doesn’t use the ‘bunkle’ term too much more in the remaining pages.

Oliver’s first Christmas is coming up. What does a good aunt get for a one year old? I also have to start early with not forgetting to celebrate both the holiday and his birthday. No cheating from me, I promise.

Today is a day off for me. Thank you Veterans. For the day off and everything else.

Hopefully this post is better late than never. I was out west a week ago, spending time with nephew Oliver and the rest of the family.

We made some funny faces.

We had some good times.

Oliver showed me all of his amazing new tricks. All at once. Sitting up. Rolling around. Pulling himself up. I was impressed.

I also discovered the Chocodile. Unfortunately, just like my baby nephew, it is only available on the West Coast. Now that I think about it, I can see that this is just another persuasion technique employed by my very own family.

“Chocodiles and cute babies,” they say. “All this could be yours.”

Baby nephew was a lot of fun. He smiles, he stands (with a little help) and he jumps. Also, he loves to read! What else is there to say? I miss him already.
