Rise and shine, world. It’s Christmas!

I heart my new soda sweater, handmade by Hazel 🙂

Family photo with Santa? Nah… Family photo with Mount Chocorua!

Did you want to see more pictures? Because I have some!

Can you even believe the beauty of this setting? The winding White River, omg

What in the world is going on, she wonders?

One zany, colorful picture from Zoolights (Nov. 29)

(Another) absolute beaut from Thanksgiving Day

And this last one taken while the kids were playing at Owen Beach (Nov. 13)

We ventured into the Mount Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest for a Christmas tree!

Within certain parameters — not too close to a body of water, a trailhead, or a campsite, etc. — our permit allowed us to take any tree!

Until this snow-laden evergreen caught our eye

The tree sat in the back with the kids and dripped on them the whole way home!

We found forests in Bellingham for the holiday!

We started Thursday with a chilly loop hike at the Stimpson Family Nature Reserve

And in the afternoon we descended 51 steep steps…

On Friday we failed to see the views from the top of Chuckanut Mountain

Because it was socked in and pouring

Led to more natural treasures, like curvy trees!

And dry cliff walls with caves!

In a different part of the park we risked the rising tide in another cave (so cool!)
