Here comes winter!

We found forests in Bellingham for the holiday!

We started Thursday with a chilly loop hike at the Stimpson Family Nature Reserve

Moss! Ferns! Leaves!

And in the afternoon we descended 51 steep steps…

To hidden Locust Beach

On Friday we failed to see the views from the top of Chuckanut Mountain

Because it was socked in and pouring

But different stairs…

Led to more natural treasures, like curvy trees!

And dry cliff walls with caves!

In a different part of the park we risked the rising tide in another cave (so cool!)

And eventually came inside to swim in the warm hotel pool

Happy Thanksgiving, all!

For the six Saturdays of the fall soccer season we’ve started out like this:

The decorations at Hoot ‘n’ Howl were spectacular!

Something for everyone

Here Landry was harvesting snowberries from beneath the bush. They make a “pop” when squished

Sticks, always a solid choice. And look what the smoke in the air has done to the light! Yucky and pretty

Hazel competed in her first sailing races yesterday!

Airbags are pumped, time to get rigging

This was Hazey’s favorite picture from the morning. Doesn’t she look like a pro?

Out they went — three teammates at their first regatta!

Peek-a-boo! Coming in hot (for lunch)!

Hazel and her coach wolfing down their four bites each. Lunch was about three minutes long 🙂

Hazel’s division (Opti sailors) completed 4 races throughout the day. From shore it’s hard to tell what’s going on, but a parent with binoculars helped me spot Hazel here: See the big, yellow, inflatable triangular buoy on the right side of this picture? Hazel’s boat is the closest of the three to the left of the buoy!

Meanwhile, Supey and Landry, on their own at home, ventured out to Point Defiance

And found themselves some cones!
