Two and a half

30 months old! Great day to make Halloween cookies.

Rolling the dough

Hazel was a natural at cutting the shapes. The pumpkin was her favorite (but here she has the bat)

Laura and Peter helped us decorate the cookies: frosting and sprinkles galore!

Walking to the park

Hazel started off strolling her white bear to the playground

But after a few blocks decided to carry him like this

I introduced Hazel to the berries I called glue berries as a kid.

Carefully approaching the flexible bridge

This playground has an upper deck steering wheel and a lower deck one

Stepping on shadows

Hazel’s new favorite outdoor activity: “Can you step on my shadow?”

“Aaaacorns, where are you?”

Leafy crunch crunch

We love Theodore’s play dough recipe!

Say cheese

“Can you say cheeeeeese and I take your picture?” Where’d she even learn the phrase “say cheese?”

Hazel seems to be making peace with the camera

But it definitely still helps to be distracted

Following Hazel at the farm

Saying good morning to some chickens

It was from under this tree that she saw a new path: “Let’s explore!”

Turns out the path led us over a bridge to Bee Line Trail. She asked “where’s the lion?”

Keeping her balance at the edge of Boyce Field

This toad surprised us by bouncing through the snack area. Its color was quite shocking until I saw it next to dried leaves

Hazel spent the rest of the time digging in this garden bed. I overheard the following (and wrote it down verbatim for posterity): “Dump it in, spread it out, and make it a flat surface.”
