We were in Whistler, British Columbia, Canada for our vacation — site of the 2010 winter Olympic games
We rode gondolas to six and seven thousand feet, then started our kid-friendly hikes from there
The summit of Whistler Mountain is a little bit busy…
…But soon enough there was this
The peak to peak gondola took us (stunningly!) from Whistler to Blackcomb Mountain
We stayed on the ground for our middle full day in Whistler
We hiked to a tiny, charming lake called Swim Lake
Some of the terrain was serious
While other parts were conducive to ninja moves
Back at our hotel (We swam for 4 afternoons in a row and I only have one picture to prove it!)
Hidden and no longer being sought
Day three: wearing sharks and ready to roll
There was a mountain bike festival on the mountain while we were there, which at times meant we could see flips and spins from the gondola!
Need I mention that the weather was absolutely perfect for our trip?
Some of the lakes and rivers in the area are a strange (but beautiful) aqua blue from glacier runoff
On this day we hiked down to Harmony Lake
We spotted our second marmot! See the furry creature on the middle-distance rock to the left?
Landry was the youngest trail walker by far
Another scenic, alpine lunch on Blackcomb
Five year old photographer (see her in the reflection?)
One reply on “Whistler, B.C.”
Friends of ours from Wellesley retired a couple of years ago to Whistler. (She’s Canadian by birth though had lived in Boston for decades.) The pictures she posts to Facebook – wow! Year-round gorgeous. It looks like you had the most perfect conditions.
