Today was Hazel’s birthday celebration at school, and for the occasion she decorated both her own and her brother’s sneakers

Oh! Didn’t see you there!

Flowery, sunny pickup

Back on the bike, briefly

Hazel’s birthday bicycle has arrived!

Here they were getting acquainted

Landry did a lot of darting to and fro

But ultimately went into the yard with sidewalk chalk

Hazel rode so much and so long that this happened

Sand man

Isn’t it a pleasure to see her in blue? She thought so too

Today was crazy hair day for school spirit week: 4 braids with curling ribbon

Landry scored Kitten’s First Full Moon at library story time

Here is the only angle we could find that showcased all four braids

Slight chin injury

Early morning chasing

Late morning rock throwing

And crevice finding

After school resting

And flopping in the grass

Giant flying disc catching!!!

This morning Hazel spent a long time working on a kitty craft project

Underwater walrus viewing is open again at our zoo!

There’s our pal Dozer

He’s a bit of a ham

There was the science of egg dyeing

And the art of egg dyeing (plus a kitty helper)

Hazel posing with Barbie (Hazel’s first comment about Barbie when we took her out of the box was that she had really tiny feet. Good eye, Hazey.)

Today was Hazel’s 6th birthday party

It was assembly line style for preparing the goodie bags

The Push Supey game never gets old

Grandma Linda and Grandpa Arno joined us at home and at the party (brave souls)

Here is the birthday girl amid all of the bouncy inflatables

Landry jumped right into the mix

It was one classmate’s actual birthday, so he shared the birthday throne with Hazel while we sang

There was cake

Opening presents

Everyone in this picture is getting so big!

Landry jumped onto the throne between each present-giver

The whole crazy crew!

Firefighter’s pole? Check!

Wobbly bobbly

Seeing red

Seeing him see red

Landry reacts like this

A little spacey after school but willing to pose with cherry blossoms

He told me he was driving the ship to the west — which was directionally true!

I got my camera for normal train and track-related play when — boom! — Landry spontaneously became a tunnel

The kids were reading that insect book together when — boom! — there was pushing and shoving instead

A few minutes later they surprised me by playing Go Fish very nicely all by themselves
