Last day of one

DSC_3710
This is Landry’s last day in his ones. He’s still a pantry minx, helping himself to treats we didn’t even know we had!

DSC_3706
This one is from yesterday. Hazel engaged in a day-long project of making her room into a house. She drew lots of fixtures to mount inside her house. Outside she made this mailbox.

Staircase

Memorial Day at Staircase

For those not in the know, Staircase is an access point to Olympic National Park

We hiked the Rapids Loop Trail

Which hugs the north fork of the Skokomish River

Then crosses along this bridge

(Isn’t it impressive?)

As well as several other “balance beam bridges” along the way

Landry found pinecones

And fern alleys

And trekked an impressive, enthusiastic mile before cozying up in the carrier

Here is a pensive Hazel

After a picnic lunch: some Skokomish sand explorers

Interview with Landry

It’s a little bit hard to hear him — sorry! — but hopefully you’ll get the gist

Oh balance beam

Perfect afternoon for a playground turret

Landry tried SO hard and eventually blew some of his own bubbles!

As you can see he wasn’t at all pleased about it

This balance beam looks fun (and was) but both kids took nasty spills, so it’s officially on my bad list

Hazel’s last day of preschool

Normal, low-key walk in the morning, led by Landry

Selfie along the way

Exciting, special, non-low-key last day of preschool in the afternoon

Gaggle of kids taking pictures

Framed for posterity on their last day of “pre chool” 🙂

This will be Landry’s last pining-for-Hazel snack at the children’s museum (you can fuzzily see Hazey on the far side of the fence opposite Landry’s pinkie)

Had to get in some QT with the water table, too

Different glass between them this time but Hazel’s motioning to her brother that it’ll just be five more minutes until he’s allowed entry

H and L on the preschool rug

Ms. Shannon called each student up individually and read a prepared statement

Farewell preschool, hello summer!
